Albert "Mann" Donald Miller, Sr.

Albert Donald Miller, Sr. affectionately known by many as “Mann,” passed away on July 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 28, 1937, Albert’s remarkable life spanned centuries, marked by deep devotion to family, land, and community.

Mann’s connection to his roots ran as deep as the fields he tended throughout his life. A lifelong farmer, he was committed to advancing agriculture in Mobile County, serving with distinction on the board of directors for the Mobile County Farmer Federation. His leadership was further evident during his tenure as the president of the Farmers Market of Mobile County for several years. Mann also contributed his experience and passion as a board member for the Mobile County Cattlemen of Alabama, helping guide and support the region’s agricultural community for many years.

Mann’s dedication to farming was matched only by the joy he found in sharing his love for rural traditions. He was renowned for his enthusiasm in organizing and running the pig and calf shows at the fair, events that brought smiles to countless children. Children held a special place in Mann's heart; he delighted in every opportunity to support and nurture them, especially his cherished grandchildren. Whether he was working with livestock, hunting in the woods, casting a line in a favorite fishing spot, or gathering with loved ones, Mann’s greatest happiness was found in the company of his family and friends.

Those who knew Mann remember him as someone who looked out for everyone. His spirit of generosity and care extended far beyond his immediate circle, enriching the lives of all who crossed his path. Community members could always count on Mann for a helping hand, wise advice, or a warm word—never too busy to lend his time or support.

Mann leaves behind his beloved wife of 66 years, Anna Miller; his devoted sons, Albert Miller Jr. (Jamie) and Franz Miller (Anita); his dear daughter, Christine Dickerson (Bryan); and his grandchildren: Emily, Sarah, Melanie, Lilyanna, and Nora; great grandchildren, Jackson, and William. He is also survived by his brother, Henry Miller (Tweety); and his sister, Betty Ruth Brunson. Each of them carries forward his legacy of love, dedication, and unyielding support.

Mann was preceded in death by his parents Boyd and Alma Miller, as well as by his brothers, Artice Miller, Otis Miller, Willie Ray Miller, and Buddy Miller; and his sisters, Catherine Wyble, Marie Boswell, and Amelizabeth Ellerbe. His memory will be cherished by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A wake will take place on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Freeman Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m. funeral service with Pastor Wayne Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.

Albert Donald Miller, Sr’s legacy of unwavering devotion—both to the earth he cultivated and the people he loved—will endure for generations to come. His life was a testament to kindness, hard work, and the enduring strength of family and community.
