Alex R. Rivers, born on October 30, 1964, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025. He was a devoted father, beloved brother, and cherished friend. Alex's career spanned several trades; he was a logger, moved houses, and specialized in installing drywall and sheetrock. His hands-on skills and work ethic were a testament to his character, always willing to lend a hand to those in need.
Known for his vibrant personality, Alex was often the life of the party. His infectious laughter and warm spirit created an atmosphere of joy wherever he went. His passion for football, particularly as an avid Alabama fan, brought him immense joy.
Alex is survived by his son, Cody Reed, who carries on his father’s legacy. He also leaves behind his siblings: Ray Wilson Johnston (Joyce), Sherry Johnston, Marvin Johnston (Melissa), Eleanor Johnston, Stevie Rivers (Donna), Eddie Rivers (Gena), and Linda Weaver (Eric "Bo"). In addition, he is remembered by a multitude of nieces and nephews, as well as numerous relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Rivers and Ola Mae Rivers, and his niece, Tiffany Johnston. Their love and guidance shaped the man Alex became, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 11:00 AM until the 12:00 PM funeral service at Mount Moriah Baptist Church with Bro. Kevin Rivers, Bro. Jerry Waite, and Bro. Wilbert Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery.
