Andrew Jackson Koen, affectionately known as Jackie, passed away peacefully at his home on October 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 14, 1939, Andrew lived a life full of passion and craftsmanship, which was reflected in both his career and his hobbies.
A skilled woodworker and furniture builder, Andrew dedicated many years of his life to his trade, retiring from Searcy Hospital where he served as a carpenter. His hands, accustomed to the delicate touch required for woodworking, brought many creations to life, showcasing his commitment to quality and artistry.
Outside of work, Andrew found immense joy in gardening, particularly nurturing his nine blueberry bushes, of which he took immense pride. Each bush was a testament to his dedication and love for nature. His garage was another sanctuary, filled with the tools and materials that facilitated his creative spirit.
Andrew’s legacy extends beyond his work and hobbies; he is survived by his son, Steven Koen (Lisa); his daughter, Tonette Adams; and ten cherished grandchildren. They, along with many friends, will fondly remember him for his kindness and the warmth he brought into their lives.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vera Charlene Koen; his parents, Perry and Willie Koen; eleven siblings; and son-in-law, William Adams, who have all left an indelible mark on his life.
As we remember Andrew Jackson Koen, we celebrate a man whose life was defined by love for family, craftsmanship, and the beauty found in nurturing both wood and soil. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him.
