Annie Jane Hussey

April 11, 1931 — February 15, 2020

Annie Jane "Mama Ann" Hussey, native of Mississippi and a resident of Mount Vernon, Alabama went peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior in the late evening of February 15, 2020. She was 88 years old; born April 11, 1931. Annie was a mental health worker at Searcy hospital for over 30 years. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Mama Ann loved her family. She loved going out to eat, LOVED her coffee, enjoyed watching Alabama football games on Saturdays, and she was always up for a road trip. Mama Ann was loved by all who knew her. She had a sweet spirit about her and a smile that would light-up any room! She was preceded in death by her husband John C. Hussey; daughters Janet Lee Hines, and Judy Givens; one great grandson Nicholas Sage Sullivan; parents, Jefferson Carl and Susan Andrews West; and siblings, Edward West, Bud West, Clarence West, Garland West, Henry West, Billy Carl West, Hazel Doggett, Lois Campbell, and Shirley Dunn. Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Frank “Jay” (Sheila) West; daughter, Marie (DC) Lofton; grandchildren, Brandy (Dunford) Cole, Nathan Sullivan, Chris (Pepper) Givens, Anna (Wesley) Wiggins, DJ Lofton, and Tammara Lofton; great grandchildren, Michael (Jane) Cole, Breana Givens, Yasmin Givens, Destiny Sullivan, Jeremiah Sullivan, Jordan Sullivan, Austin Sullivan, Joshua Sullivan, Briana Davis, Elyssa Ann Weaver, Braxleigh Williams, and one great, great grandchild on the way; a host of nieces and nephews; and numerous close friends. A wake will be held for Mama Ann at Freeman Funeral Home Thursday, February 20, 2020, from 6-9pm. A celebration of life will follow on Friday, February 21, 2020 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church starting at 10am with Rev. Barbara Brewi and Rev. Dunford Cole officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Community Cemetery. Online condolences may be given at www.freemancitronelle.com.
