Arnold H. “Coot” Johnston, 73, a native and resident of Sims Chapel, Alabama passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Washington County Nursing Home. Coot was a welder at Mobile Asphalt Company for many years. He was a faithful member of Sims Chapel United Methodist Church where he was overseer of the cemetery and church facilities. Coot was a member of the F&AM Citronelle Lodge # 637. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. But most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Ida Johnston; brothers, Connie Johnston and Johnnie Mel Johnston. Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 54 years, Charletha Johnston; children, Penny Lynn Johnston, Kathy Jo Foster (Curtis) and Lee Johnston; 6 grandchildren, John Curtis Foster, Meagan LeeAnn Johnston, Zackery Dungan (Robbie Ellen), Ashlee Byrd (Dylan), Dylan Lee Johnston, and Emalee Faith Dungan; 5 great grandchildren, John Colby, Foster, Zoei Kate, Zane, and Nellie Harper; siblings, Jeanette Martin (Bobby), Carol Ray Johnston (Bonnie), Gloria Faye Bailey, and Charlie Johnston; other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 1:30pm until the 3pm funeral service on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Sims Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Otis Lister and Rev. Eddie Brunson officiating.
