It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Ashley Nichole Stempien, a beloved mother, daughter, and girlfriend, who left us on June 8, 2025, at the age of 37. Ashley was a shining light in the lives of all who knew her. As a devoted mother, she dedicated herself to her son Caleb Brinkman’s happiness and wellbeing, always putting his needs before her own with boundless love and care. As a loving daughter, she cherished her parents, Mona and Dave Stempien, deeply, offering unwavering support and kindness, and fostering strong bonds that will forever be treasured. As a compassionate girlfriend, she brought warmth and joy to her sweetheart, Carlos, sharing laughter, dreams, and a deep connection built on trust and affection with Carlos Riddle and his daughter Carlie Riddle. Ashley was born and raised in Mount Vernon, Alabama. She grew into a remarkable woman whose spirit was characterized by kindness, generosity, and resilience. She touched the hearts of many with her infectious smile and compassionate nature. Whether through her work, her family, or her community, she showed love and devotion in everything she did. Ashley was employed with the United States Postal Service for over 10 years, and is the current Postmaster in Jackson, Alabama. She loved to travel and spend time with her son, Caleb. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors.
Ashley leaves behind her son, Caleb; her parents, Dave and Mona; her grandmother, Eugenia Stempien; her sweetheart, Carlos; her best friend, Jessica McCray Weaver; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will forever hold her memory close in their hearts.
A celebration of her life will be held at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, where friends and family are invited to share their memories and honor her beautiful legacy. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered for the love she gave so freely. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
Ashley was preceded in death by her brother, Chad Stempien; grandparents, Stanley Bernard and Mary Bernard of Mount Vernon, Alabama; and her grandfather, Leonard Stempien of Satsuma, Alabama.
