Beatrice Nora Shoemaker, born April 16, 1941, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, at USA Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was a cherished soul whose life was marked by warmth, devotion, and a passion for the simple joys that enriched her days.

Beatrice’s proudest accomplishments lay in her family, especially her beloved children and grandchildren, who were the center of her world. She carried with her a heart full of memories, from watching festive parades such as Mardi Gras and small-town holiday celebrations to enjoying lively casino trips. An avid baker, Beatrice delighted in creating her famous biscuits, a talent recognized and celebrated with her victory in the Hardee’s biscuit cook-off during the mid-1990s. Her youthful days were filled with spirited card games and visits to the rodeo, and throughout her life, she found joy in the soulful sounds of old country music, particularly the melodies of Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty.

Beatrice is survived by her children, James Kevin Billington and his wife Tajuana, as well as May Shoemaker. Her legacy extends through her grandchildren—Justin Billington, Jason Billington, Lonnie Billington and his wife Destiny, Jay Shoemaker and his partner Miranda Hoops, Brandon Billington and his wife Korie, Bailee James and her partner Andrew Stilwell, and Jordan James and his partner Haley Dickerson. She was also a beloved great-grandmother to Zane, Kyla, Aiden, Zeth, Emerson, Waylon, Jillian, and Presley. Beatrice’s family circle includes her siblings Mary Ann Brown, Kathryn Shoemaker, Mike Price, Becky Grothoff, and Jessie Moore, along with her favorite son-in-law, Mitchell James. She was further cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends who hold her memory close.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, J.K. Shoemaker, and her partner Thomas Carlisle. She also mourns the loss of her children Shelia Dalene Price and Robert Eugene Billington, as well as her parents Kenneth and Anna Price. Her siblings Elinor Price and David Roach also passed before her.
