Benjie “Wee Wee” Covington, Jr. went home to Jesus on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at age 35.
Benjie was born to Benjie Covington and April Taylor (Hodge) on April 29, 1987, in Mcintosh, Alabama. As a child, he was always the comedian that kept everyone smiling!
Benjie met the mother of his children, Astrid Torres in 2012, and after the birth of their first child, he began serving in the US Army for 4 years as a (13F) Field Artillery Specialist. He served in military combat in Kuwait, Iraq, and Djibouti (Africa). After his time in the armed forces, he returned home to Mcintosh, Alabama and began working towards the completion of his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
In addition to being a loving father, Benjie also loved the Lord, staying actively involved in the Church and Ministry as he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared passionately with those who surrounded him.
Benjie joins his grandparents, Lillie Nell and Preston Lee (P.L.) Hodge and Thomas and Maxine Covington in Heaven. He is survived by his mother, April Taylor, his father, Benjie Covington, his brothers, Thomas Covington, Patrick Rivers, Marcus Byrd, Alex Taylor, his sisters, Rachael Taylor, Elaina Shantel Covington-Reed, Brenda Maxine Covington, his children, Isabela Covington, Carlos Covington, Jason Covington, and Antonio Covington
A wake will be held for Benjie from 6pm until 9pm Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Freeman Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2pm Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Reed's Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Waite officiating. Burial will follow in Reed's Chapel Cemetery.
