Bill Cole, affectionately known to many as "Rooster," passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, at Jackson Hospital. Born on April 19, 1962, Bill lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and a deep love for the outdoors.
Bill found great joy in a variety of meaningful pastimes throughout his life. He was particularly known for his enthusiasm for horseshoes and his passion for breeding game cocks. His connection to nature extended into his younger years where he enjoyed riding horses, hunting, and spending time outdoors. Professionally, Bill took immense pride in his role as a heavy equipment operator, a job he loved and embraced fully.
He is survived by his beloved son, Johnathan Cole, and his cherished grandchildren,Ta'Leeah, Bryson, Bethany, Fairley, Kaizlynn, Jaxson, and Madelyn. His memory lives on through his sisters, Tammy Cooper and Annette Williamson (Bruce), his brother Bryan Cole, best friend, Frozine Byrd; previous wife, Crystal Cole Lucious "Big Blonde" as well as nephews Christopher Thompson (Marlana) and Lance Cooper, and nieces Tamara Cooper (Brandon) and Salathia Rivers (Brett). Bill was also fondly connected to many other relatives and friends who grieve his passing and honor his legacy.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Megan Cole, his brother Aimon Cole, and his parents, Fairley and Salathia Cole, who preceded him in death and whom he lovingly remembered.
A visitation to honor Bill’s life will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Happy Gospel Field Assembly of God Church. Following, a graveside service will take place at Reed’s Chapel Cemetery at 2:00 PM on the same day with Bro. Jerry Waite officiating.
Bill Cole’s life was one of strong ties to family, community, and the simple pleasures that defined his enduring spirit. He will be remembered as a man of earnest character, warmth, and a gentle strength that touched those around him. His presence will be profoundly missed but cherished forever in the hearts of all who knew him.
