Brenda Ann Knight passed away peacefully at her home on August 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 9, 1960, Brenda touched the lives of many with her warmth, devotion, and unwavering sense of service.
Brenda's life was distinguished by her dedication to both her community and loved ones. She was retired from the Dexter Police Force, where she honorably served for 23 years in Missouri. Following her relocation to Alabama, Brenda continued her commitment to public service as a proud member of the Mobile County Sheriff's Mounted Unit. Her integrity, compassion, and steadfastness left an indelible legacy among her colleagues and those she served.
Brenda embraced life with an adventurous and generous spirit. She found joy in the simple pleasures—fishing and camping under vast skies, with sunsets shimmering over the water. These moments, especially when shared holding a fishing pole, brought her immense happiness. Brenda was also deeply devoted to mission work, reaching out to help others whenever she could.
Together with her beloved husband, Donald Marvin Knight, Brenda explored the beauty of the nation, traveling across 19 states. These journeys strengthened their bond and created treasured memories. Family was central to Brenda’s life, and she delighted in time spent with them, whether gathered by the water's edge or around the family table.
Brenda is survived by her husband of 15 years, Donald Marvin Knight; her step-son, Daniel Sherman Knight (Carlie); and her cherished step grandchildren, Carolina Christina Knight and Bentlee Jordan Knight. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce Green (Donald); her brother, Gene Brown (Sandy); and her sisters-in-law, Katherine Simison, Linda Vice, and Joyce Sheffield (Mickey), as well as her brothers-in-law, James Knight (Carolyn), Henry Knight (Liz), and Ronald Knight (Kathy). Their lives have been deeply enriched by Brenda’s love and wisdom.
She is preceded in death by her father, Wiley Cleveland Brown, and mother, Ardy Georgeann Morgan Brown; her brothers Hubert William Brown, Jimmy Leroy Brown, Donald Dillard Brown, and Lonnie Dale Brown; and her sisters, Linda Brown, Patsy Delores Brown Richerson, and Betty Pearline Brown Davis. Their memory was ever cherished by Brenda, and now she joins them in eternal peace.
Brenda Ann Knight's legacy is defined by her selfless service, her commitment to her family, and the enduring kindness she shared with all. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
