Carol Ann Newburn, a lifelong resident of Citronelle, passed from this life Friday, November 15, 2019 at home. Carol Ann was born June 28, 1936 in Prescott, Arizona to Seba and Lillian Evans. She was a member of the former First Baptist Church of Citronelle and a retiree of the City of Citronelle Recreation Department. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post 164 where she served as President many times and spent countless hours as an advocate and volunteer for Veterans. Carol Ann served on both the Keep Citronelle Beautiful Committee and the Citronelle Cemetery Board. Her biggest joy was spending time with her family, putting together puzzles, and traveling. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William H. Newburn Sr. and daughter, Alice Newburn Turner. She is survived by her sons, Richard Evans, William (Shirley) Newburn, Jr., Donald (Janet) Newburn and Roger Darren(Sabrina) Newburn; daughter, Christy (Steve) Taylor; grandchildren, Christopher (Megan) Newburn; Caitlin (Chris) Carlton, Tiffany Newburn and Ann-Marie Taylor; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Mobile Infirmary Southern Cancer Center, Springhill Hospice, the staff at HomeInstead and Carol Cameron for the love and support they provided during the family’s time of need.
A wake will be held Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 6pm until 9pm at Freeman Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held 2pm, Sunday, November 17, 2019, at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev.
