Charlene Verdette Young

Charlene Verdette Young, a resident of Wilmer, Alabama, passed away Monday, January 04, 2021. She was 66 years old. She was a member of Calvary Outreach Ministries and she enjoyed sewing and quilting. Most of all, Charlene loved her children and grandchildren and loved taking care of them. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Samuel “Sammy” Young, Sr.; and her father, Ellis Buxton. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Angel Young Bishop (Kenny), Rachel Young Renauld (Andrew), Jerri Lanette Young, and Lawrence Samuel “Lance” Young, Jr.; grandchildren, Justin, Summer, Tiffany, Noah, Lindsey, Samantha, Gracie, Sarah Katherine, Lawrence, Charity, Scarlett Klaire, and Elijah; one great grandchild on the way; mother, Lavina Buxton; sisters, Sharon and Janice; brothers, Kenneth and Steve; a host of nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 1pm until the 2pm funeral service Thursday, January 07, 2021, at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Harley officiating.
