Charles Rivers, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on November 4, 2025, at Washington County Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of love and hard work. Born on October 16, 1947, Charles lived a life filled with purpose and dedication.
For most of his career, Charles was a logger, and he also served as a maintenance worker and truck driver, showcasing his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family. His passion for his job mirrored his dedication to his loved ones; he was known as a family man who cherished every moment spent with those he held dear.
Charles was not only hardworking but also brought joy and laughter to those around him. His funny and outgoing personality made him a friend to many, and he always spoke his mind, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him. He actively participated in church activities as a Sunday School teacher, enjoyed singing, and took great pleasure in watching westerns and Alabama football, showcasing his diverse interests and zest for life.
His family was his pride and joy. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Carolyn Rivers; children, Marvin Rivers (Alison), Charlotte Rivers (Richard Weaver), Vera Weaver (Josh), and Joshua Rivers (Sarah); and grandchildren, Ashley Rivers, Cara Rivers, Michael Reed, Kirkston Weaver, Layla "Bug" Weaver, Austin Weaver, Kaitlyn Byrd, Cara Weaver, Josh Weaver, Jr., Bryson Rivers, and Dalton Rivers. He also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Asher Michael Reed and Leland Peavy; siblings, Nettie Lee Taylor, Marvin Rivers, Jr., and Mart Rivers; as well as many other relatives and friends who will remember him fondly.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Abbie Rivers; his son, Nick Rivers; and siblings, Barbara Jean Byrd, Lamar Rivers, Wayne Rivers, Alice Weaver, Lavert Rivers, and Mildred Johnston.
The community is invited to pay respects during the visitation at Rivers Baptist Church on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and again on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 1:00 until the 2:00 PM funeral service at the same location with Bro. Samuel Rivers, Bro. Joshua Weaver, and Bro. Nick Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Rivers Baptist Church Cemetery.
Charles Rivers leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories woven through love, laughter, and a steadfast commitment to family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
