Darlene Childers

Darlene Childers, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on July 25, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on November 30, 1956, Darlene had a vibrant personality that endeared her to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was truly a people person, known for her warm smile and engaging conversations with anyone who crossed her path.

Among her proudest accomplishments was her family, which meant the world to her. Darlene cherished her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She leaves behind her loving daughter, Angela Talley, and son, James "J.T." Childers, along with her beloved granddaughter, Mary Talley. Darlene is also survived by her siblings, Eddie Smith (Lyn) and Vicki Spence (Kurt), in addition to a multitude of nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends who will deeply miss her vibrant spirit.

Darlene had many passions in life. She loved telling stories, sharing laughter, and bringing joy to others. Her culinary talents were known to all, and she took great pleasure in cooking for her family and friends. Additionally, Darlene enjoyed crocheting and created many cherished pieces that will be forever valued by her loved ones. One of her favorite pastimes was traveling with her daughter, particularly going on cruises, where they made countless memories together.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Childers, and her parents, E.D. and Mary Smith. The legacy of love and warmth that Darlene leaves behind will continue to inspire those she touched throughout her life.

A visitation for Darlene will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service at Freeman Funeral Home with Bro. Don Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Citronelle Methodist Cemetery. All who knew and loved Darlene are invited to join in celebrating her remarkable life and the indelible mark she has left on our hearts.
