Deborah Jean Gaw, affectionately known as Debbie, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, at her home. Born on January 29, 1961, in Mobile, Alabama, she was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, remembered for her loving, funny, and outgoing spirit.
Debbie’s life was rich with the simple joys that brought her happiness. She found great pleasure in watching game shows on television, challenging her mind with puzzles, and spending tranquil hours fishing. These pastimes reflected her playful nature and her love for moments of quiet reflection and fun.
Throughout her life, Deborah held her family as her proudest accomplishment. She cherished her role within her close-knit family circle, a sentiment warmly evident to all who knew her. Her devotion was a constant source of strength and comfort to those around her.
Deborah is survived by her husband of 37 years, Alan Harris, whose partnership and love sustained her through life’s journey. She leaves behind her children: Lee Gaw and his wife Skyla; Cory Gaw and his fiancée Mel; and Robert Harris and his wife Brittney. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Paisley Gaw, Lucas Gaw, Cory Gaw, Jr., and Marley Gaw, who will dearly miss the warmth and joyful spirit she shared so freely.
She is also survived by her siblings, Richard Johnston and his wife Patti, and Lori Lane, who shared lifelong bonds of family and friendship with her. Deborah’s extended family and many friends also mourn her loss, remembering her as a vibrant and caring individual.
Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, Carrol Johnston, Sr. and Sandra Johnston, and her brother, Carrol Ray Johnston, Jr. Their memory remains deeply cherished in the hearts of all who loved her.
