Dennis Nelson Holland

Dennis Nelson Holland, a resident of Deer Park, Alabama, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2020. He was 90 years old. Dennis was born in Deer Park, Alabama, on September 1, 1930. He was married to Mary Jane Holland for 66 years. Dennis lived a full life as a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many. He was an ironworker, farmer, avid hunter, handyman, and storyteller. Dennis’ hands were constantly busy. He loved to help people, loved working on his farm, and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dennis was preceded in death by his daughter, Charlene Loper; grandson, Dennis Loper; parents, Lottie Holland Turner and Nelson Holland; sisters, Dorothy Easley, Lorraine Colburn, Myrtle Wimpee, Ruth Dees, and Christine Holland. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Mary Jane Holland; children and their spouses, Judy and Donnie Cunningham, Carol and Michael Snurkowski, Dennis Jr. and Wyllene Holland, Darryl Holland, Patricia and Bryan Bernard, Mary and Jean Rathle, Sam Holland and Bobby Carpenter; grandchildren, Don Cunningham, Rob Hayes, Robby Loper, Amy Cunningham, Darla Hayes, Amber Holland, Chris Holland, Ashley McCasland, Joe Bernard, Daniel Holland, Adam Rathle, Marla Bernard, Weston Holland, Nicholas Rathle, Jon Parker Holland; 21 great grandchildren; sisters, Faye Thomas and Nadine Walker (Billy); and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends Monday October 5, 2020 from 6 pm until 9 pm at Freeman Funeral Home in Citronelle. The funeral service will be 11 am at the chapel of Freeman Funeral Home in Citronelle on Tuesday, October 6 2020 with Dr. Elbert Charpie officiating.
