Dorothy Weaver Dixon, affectionately known as "Dot," passed away peacefully at her home on May 31, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 15, 1938, Dorothy’s life was marked by devotion, hard work, and a joyful spirit that touched the lives of all who knew her.
A woman of many talents and a true perfectionist by nature, Dorothy was admired for her honesty, warmth, and talkative, happy demeanor. She dedicated many years to serving her community in various roles; initially, she worked as a waitress and caregiver before embarking on an entrepreneurial journey as the owner of an ice cream truck—a venture that brought delight to many over the years. Her work ethic was matched only by the loving care she extended to those around her.
Outside of her career, Dorothy’s passions were many. She took great pleasure in bowling and shopping, filling her days with laughter and movement. She was also an enthusiastic cook, a diligent cleaner, and a lively dancer, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. Above all, her proudest accomplishment was her family, to whom she devoted much of her time and affection. The time she spent with her loved ones was the truest expression of her love and happiness.
Dorothy’s family was truly extensive and dear to her heart. She is survived by her children: Nora Weaver, Dale Weaver, Victor Weaver (Loretta), and James Weaver (Kathy). Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren—Shania, Candice, Christy, Michael, Tosha, Josh, Kayla, Phillip, Michael Jr., Brieson, Gabrielle, Anna, Taylor, Johnathan, Jeremy, and Tiffany—and her beloved 26 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind siblings Lynette Reed and Chris Weaver; a devoted brother-in-law, Benny Bourgeois; a close and treasured friend, Dora Parker; as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends who held her in high regard.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Dixon; her parents, Robert and Margie Weaver; sons Gerald Weaver, Vince Weaver, and Jerry Weaver; granddaughter Brittany Weaver; great-grandson Joshua Jr.; siblings Robert T. Weaver, Lamar Weaver, Terry Bourgeois, and Fran West; and daughters-in-law Barbara Jordan and Diane Britton.
A visitation to honor Dorothy’s life will be held on June 5, 2026, from 1:00 PM until the 2:00 PM funeral service at the Happy Gospel Field Assembly of God Church with Bro. Johnathan Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Reed's Chapel Cemetery.
Dorothy Weaver Dixon’s life was a testament to the strength of family, the joy found in daily moments, and the enduring impact of a loving heart. Her memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her, a shining example of dedication, happiness, and love. May she rest in peace.
