Dorothy Davis Farmer, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on May 13, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on March 15, 1936, Dorothy lived a life rich in love, community service, and personal accomplishments.
Dorothy’s professional journey began in accounting and bookkeeping, eventually leading her to the role of regional manager for home interior designs. She also served as a personal assistant to several corporate companies, showcasing her dedication and expertise in her field.
A follower of Christ, Dorothy was known for her outspoken and feisty personality, often bringing a witty remark or strong-willed opinion to conversations. Her loyalty to family and friends was unwavering, and she embraced every moment spent in their company. She enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including puzzles, DIY arts and crafts, sewing, crocheting, and bow making. Dorothy had a profound love for flowers and cultivated a green thumb that brought beauty to her surroundings. Her active involvement with her senior group and the local church community exemplified her commitment to giving back and fostering cherished relationships.
As a proud mother, Dorothy is survived by her children, Darrell Davis (Lana) and Diantha Miller (Gary). She was a doting grandmother to Tonya Roberts, John Roberts (Tiffany), Kristyna Martin, Brittney Calvert, Ginny Needham (Sam), Regan Miller, Isaac Lopez-Montana (Karen), and Adam "A.J." Lopez-Montana (Nicky). Dorothy’s legacy continues through her sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. She also leaves behind her brothers, Matthew Franklin and Nathan Franklin (Sherry), along with a multitude of nieces and nephews and many other relatives and close friends.
Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Darlene Benson (Scott), and was also preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Jennie Franklin. Her siblings—Elizabeth Zeigler, Marietta King, James "Bub" Franklin, William Franklin, Garmon Franklin, Frances Gann, and Omega Franklin—will also be fondly remembered as part of her life's tapestry.
A visitation honoring Dorothy will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at the Loxley Church of God with Rev. Monty Franklin, Rev. Mike Franklin and Rev. Kevin Mills, located at 5220 N Hickory St, Loxley, AL 36551 to celebrate the remarkable life of a woman who touched the hearts of many. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.
Dorothy Davis Farmer will be dearly missed, yet her spirit will live on in the stories shared and the memories cherished by all those who were blessed to know her.
