Edward “Ed” Lamar Chancery, age 89, of Citronelle, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on October 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on May 24, 1936, Ed was the son of the late George Leonard and Martha Jane Chancery. He was preceded in death by his parents and eleven brothers and sisters.
Ed was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and servant of the Lord. He is survived by his wife, Alfreda Bangle Chancery; his sons, Edward Lamar Chancery Jr. (Pam) and Joseph Dile Chancery II (Frances); grandchildren, Allison Nicole Chancery, Matthew Ray Chancery, and Bella Dile Chancery; and great-grandchildren, Zoe-Jane, Rylan, Warren, Elaina, Lucas, and Adalynn.
A faithful member of his church, Ed served as a deacon from 1974 until his passing within the Baptist church. His passion for missions led him on six trips to Brazil, as well as mission work in Mexico, Alaska, and Oregon.
Ed worked for 20 years with Union Oil Company in Chunchula, where he was known for his dedication and hard work. Outside of his career, he will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his servant’s heart, and the love he shared with his family and community.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 10:00AM until the 11:00AM funeral service at Memorial Baptist Church with Bro. Dino Danzey officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.
