Edward Nelson Fosnight, Jr., affectionately known as Ed, was born on December 25, 1946, in New Castle, Indiana. He passed away at his home on May 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Ed lived a life full of humor, generosity, and love, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A proud Vietnam Veteran, Ed dedicated his service to the United States Army, retiring with the honorable rank of Sergeant. His commitment to serving others extended beyond his military career; Ed was known for his selfless nature and unwavering readiness to help those in need. He brought joy to countless lives, often through his incredible gift for storytelling and his remarkable sense of humor.

Ed was not only a devoted soldier but also a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Betty Fosnight, along with their children: Anthony Fosnight (Rebecca), Sara O'Neal (Freddie), Pam Chennault (Marshall), Rebecca Blain (Darrell), and Christopher Fosnight (Tiffany). His legacy continues through his grandchildren—Charley, Austin, Megan, Ricky, Trey (Kelly), Maggie, Jacob (Holly), Zackery, Haley, Max, Samantha, and Katherine—and numerous great-grandchildren who adored him.

Ed was incredibly proud of his family, defining his life's work through the love and support he provided to them. He was a dedicated member of Faith Tabernacle, where his faith and community involvement further reflected his character.

He is also survived by his brother, Doug Fosnight (Linda), along with many other relatives and dear friends who will remember him fondly. Preceding him in death were his parents, Edward and Nina Fosnight, who raised a remarkable son whose spirit lives on through the memories shared by those who loved him.

The family invites all who knew Ed to celebrate his life. A visitation will be held on May 12, 2025, from 12:00 PM until the1:00 PM funeral service taking place at Freeman Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Henderson and Bro. Mike Chennault officiating.

Ed Fosnight’s impact on the hearts and lives around him will be cherished and remembered for years to come. His legacy of kindness, humor, and dedication serves as a lasting inspiration to his family and community.
