Edwina McGrew Ezell, born January 31, 1933, in Eucutta, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at her home on August 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Her ninety-three years were marked by warmth, service, devotion, and an unwavering commitment to those she held dear.

Edwina was the cherished daughter of Eddie and Zella McGrew, and throughout her life, she embodied the values and kindness instilled in her from a young age. She graduated from Beat Four Highschool in Wayne County, Mississippi, laying a strong foundation for her lifelong love of learning and faith.

In her professional life, Edwina wore many hats. She served as a substitute teacher, sharing her patient wisdom with children in her community. She also sold Avon, bringing her friendly and caring spirit to everyone she met. A dedicated volunteer for the Citronelle Rescue Unit, Edwina always answered the call to help those in need. Edwina’s greatest devotion was always to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Ezell; her daughter, Patty Ezell; her father, Eddie McGrew; her mother, Zella McGrew; and her brothers, James and Gayle McGrew.

Known for her friendly, giving, and caring personality, Edwina lived her faith in every part of her life. She was a gifted pianist who found great joy in playing at her church, where she also served as church secretary/treasurer and Sunday school teacher. Bible study was a source of inspiration and solace for her, and she shared these gifts generously. She was a fantastic cook, gathering family and friends around her table in the true spirit of Southern hospitality.

For thirteen adventurous years, Edwina traveled across the United States with her husband, who worked as a Wildcat Oil Driller. Whether near or far, home always meant family to Edwina, and she lovingly supported her children through every stage of their lives—including countless hours spent together at the ballpark.
