Elonzo Ainsworth

Sep 25, 1939 — Aug 24, 2026

Citronelle, Alabama

Elonzo Ainsworth, 86, passed away on August 24, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Elonzo lived a life marked by hard work, service, and deep devotion to those he loved most. He retired from the Army, where he served as a PVT (E-2), and later worked as a welder at Alabama DryDock and Shipyard. His final retirement was from Morris Industrial. Through both his military service and his career, he was known as a man of dedication and steady commitment.

Outside of work, Elonzo found joy in the simple pleasures that meant the most to him. He was a fisherman and a hunter, and he loved watching Alabama Football. More than anything, however, his family meant everything to him. He treasured time spent with them, and the love he shared with his family remained the proudest and most meaningful part of his life.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ardella Frazier Ainsworth; his father, Alvin Ainsworth; his mother, Ruthie Ainsworth; his son-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Givens; and his siblings, Calvin Ainsworth, Clyde Ainsworth, Maxie Ainsworth, Helen Ainsworth, Hester (Buddy) Ainsworth, Juanita Brewer, Betty Ann Clark, and Donnie Ainsworth.

He leaves behind a loving family who will continue to cherish his memory. He is survived by his daughters, Theresa Weaver (Johney), Judy Weaver (Mickey), Angela Newell (Warren), and Pamela Travis (John). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Johney Weaver, Jr. (Rose), Tommy Weaver (Cheryl), Patrick Weaver (Stefanie), Samantha Byrd (Josh), Jeremy Weaver (Erica), Ashley Mote, John Newell (Jill), Chasity Givens, and Brycen Greene. His legacy continues as well through his great-grandchildren, Ethan, Andre, Aliza, Hayden, Addison, Riley, Camdyn, Ace, Charlee, Piper, Keegan, and Kinsley. Their lives stand as a lasting reflection of the love and care he gave so freely.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Freeman Funeral Home with Bro. Clay Lewis and Bro. Dean Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow at Frazier Cemetery.
