Elsie Marie Powell

Elsie Marie Powell born in Deer Park, Alabama on July 3, 1930, peacefully passed from this life surrounded by her family on August 20th 2017. Mrs. Powell was the glue that bound the family together. Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners were always filled with family members rejoicing together and enjoying “granny’s” cooking. She married Dorsey James Powell on June 15, 1947 and they enjoyed 66 years together.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dorsey J. Powell, mother, Dora S. Landrum, father, Joseph L. Landrum and brothers, James L. Landrum and William J. Landrum. Left to cherish her memory, children, James Michael (Becky) Powell and Ronald Eugene (Kathy) Powell; six grandchildren; Morgan Powell, Tucker Powell, and Landon Powell; Jay (Lindsay)Powell and their children, Kylie, Bryson, Hayes, Torri, and Michael Jay; Kathleen ( Bryant) Ellis and their children Sam and Mason; Shae (Jeffery) Ondracka and their children, Sara Kate, Olivia and Christian; sister, Mary Harrell; brother Floyd Landrum; and other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 11am -12 pm Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Freeman Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will follow at 12 pm from the chapel of the funeral home.
