Emma Jean Wilson, affectionately known as Jean, passed away on June 17, 2026, at the Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. Born on June 6, 1952, Jean lived a life marked by love, spirited determination, and a profound care for those around her.
Jean was a woman of many endearing qualities—loving, feisty, caring, and giving. Her zest for life was evident in the simple joys she embraced. She delighted in cooking, sharing her culinary talents with family and friends. Her heart was deeply attached to her dogs, Lilly and Buddy, who were constant companions. Jean found peace and happiness in crocheting, watching children play in her yard, delighting in the flutter of hummingbirds near her home, and indulging in visits to Hobby Lobby, a place that inspired her creativity.
Family held a preeminent place in Jean’s life. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, proudly embracing the role of Nana. She maintained close connections with her siblings and cousins, engaging in morning phone calls that reflected the importance family held for her every day. Jean’s legacy is carried forward by her beloved children: Christopher Robin Morton (Geneva), Bobbi Jeanne Smith (Tommy), and Earnest Alexander Morton (Ashleigh). She is also survived by her siblings David Jenkins, Ann Perez (Cesar), and Kathy Blaine (Paul).
Jean’s enormous pride in her family extended to her grandchildren: Brandon Ashton Smith, Chelsea Jeanne Davis (Juan), Amber Leanne Adcox (Kevin), Brock Alexander Morton (Brittney), Caitlin Nichole Morton (Alex), Thomas Alexander Morton, and Hunter Isaac Morton. The joy of her great-grandchildren—Jase Avery Smith, Landon Ray McDuffie, Gunner Lee McDuffie, Hudson Jeanne McDuffie, Matthew Hayden Morton, Blake Anthony Cash, Wyatt Alexander Morton, Shawn Christopher Morton, and Walker Michael Morton, who is expected—also brought light to her life.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, John Michael Wilson, who shared in her journey; her father, Ernest AC Jenkins; her mother, Lessie Mae Mosley; and her brothers Wayne Raymond Jenkins and Earnest Stephen Jenkins.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service at Freeman Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery. These services will offer a time to honor and remember Jean’s life, reflecting on her rich legacy and the deep imprint she left on all who knew her.
pallbearers will be Brandon Smith, Brock Morton, Alexander Morton, Kevin Adcox, Juan Davis, and Alex Carroll.
Jean Wilson’s life was a testament to devotion to family, a warm spirit, and an enduring love for those she held dear. Her memory will continue to inspire and comfort her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
