Faye Newburn Blankinchip, born July 2, 1948, in Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. Her journey through life was marked by devotion to her family, a heartwarming inclusiveness, and an unwavering commitment to her community. Faye embodied kindness and a generous spirit. She carried these qualities with her throughout her life, ensuring that all who met her felt cherished—indeed, to Faye, everyone was family. It was this genuine warmth and openness that defined her relationships and shaped the environment she created around her, wherever she went.

Those left to chersih her memory include her children, Wesley Newburn (Donna), Mary Nelson (Wayne), Bubba Blankinchip (Cynthia), Lamona Carter (Mike), Lillian McDoanld (Brad), and Lori Philips; grandchildren, Westin Newburn, Mariah Bender, Leanne Nelson, Jason Newburn, Arion Weaver, Hailie Parramore, and many other grandchildren; great grandchildren, Wrenley, Emilia, and Kayden; siblings, Kay Lee, Ervin Armstrong, and Kathy Banks; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Blankinchip; parents, Woodrow and Mary Armstrong; daughter, Wanda Kay Newburn; and granddaughter, Devyn Weaver.

Faye was an avid Alabama football fan, never missing a chance to cheer on her team and revel in the camaraderie the sport inspired. Her love for reading revealed a curious mind and a thirst for knowledge, and she found immense joy in moments of togetherness with her family. Attending church was not just a tradition, but a cherished part of her weekly rhythm, grounding her in faith and fellowship.

Mentorship and caring for others were lifelong passions for Faye. She took special pride in helping students, offering guidance both in academics and in life. Her mentorship left an indelible mark on countless young people, many of whom credit her with inspiring confidence and shaping their futures.

Above all, Faye considered her family her proudest accomplishment. She was particularly proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy. The legacy she leaves is one of love, dedication, and unwavering support—values that she instilled in every generation of her family.

Friends and loved ones are invited to honor Faye’s memory at a visitation on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Freeman Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held the following day on Friday, July 3, 2026 at Freeman Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Don Lee officating. Burial to follow at Pine Crest Cemetery. 

Faye Newburn Blankinchip’s spirit and generosity will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her. Her legacy of caring, kindness, and devotion remains a guiding light for those she leaves behind.
