Floyd Cleveland Landrum

January 5, 1928 — February 27, 2021

FLOYD CLEVELAND LANDRUM, 93, A RESIDENT OF VINEGAR BEND, ALABAMA PASSED AWAY PEACEFULLY AT HIS HOME ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2021. HE WAS A GRADUATE FROM FRUITDALE HIGH SCHOOL AND WAS DRAFTED IN THE UNITED STATES ARMY IN MARCH, 1946 AND SERVED 23 YEARS 9 MONTHS. HE PROUDLY SERVED HIS COUNTRY DURING WORLD WAR II, THE KOREAN CONFLICT AND THE VIETNAM WAR. HE WAS STATIONED IN AUGSBURG, GERMANY, THE PORT OF WHITTIER, ALASKA, ST. JOHN’S, NEW FOUNDLAND, NAHA, OKINAWA, RYUKYU ISLANDS, JAPAN. FLOYD RANKED AS COMMAND SGT. MAJOR AND RETIRED IN 1971. IN NOVEMBER 1971, HE JOINED ALBA HIGH SCHOOL AS AN ROTC INSTRUCTOR, AND UPON LEAVING THE MOBILE COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD, HE BECAME A MEMBER OF THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE AND WORKED AS A RURAL ROUTE CARRIER. FLOYD FINALLY ENJOYED HIS RETIREMENT, SPENDING TIME OUTDOORS AND LIVING IN THE COUNTRY AT HIS HOME IN WASHINGTON COUNTY, ALABAMA. HE WILL BE DEARLY MISSED BY ALL WHO KNEW HIM.

HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS, JOSEPH LEE LANDRUM AND DORA ALICE SCARBROUGH LANDRUM; SON, RICHARD LANDRUM, SR.; BROTHERS, JAMES LEE LANDRUM AND BILL JOE LANDRUM; AND SISTER, ELSIE POWELL.

THOSE LEFT TO CHERISH HIS MEMORY INCLUDE HIS WIFE OF 70 YEARS, SARAH ODELL LANDRUM; CHILDREN, SHEILA ANN LEE (ROBERT A.) AND MALISSA APRIL RAINWATERS (JON); 9 GRANDCHILDREN, TIMOTHY LEE (JULIE), GREGORY LEE (ERICA), KALENA PACHECO (JUAN), JASON LANDRUM, JENNY LANDRUM, RICHARD LANDRUM, JR., CODY LANDRUM, CLAUDIA LANDRUM AND GUNNAR NEWBURN; 13 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN; SISTER, MARY GLYNN HARRELL; SISTER-IN-LAWS, BONNIE LANDRUM AND MARY ALMA LANDRUM; NIECES, NEPHEWS, OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS.

THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS FROM 11AM UNTIL THE 12PM FUNERAL SERVICE ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 3, 2021 AT FREEMAN FUNERAL HOME WITH REV. TOMMY GILLIARD OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN EPWORTH UNITED METHODIST CEMETERY.
