Gary Wayne Byrd

Gary Wayne Byrd, a native and resident of Mount Vernon, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at Mobile Infirmary. He was 59 years old. Gary was born June 01, 1960. He retired from Mobile County Road and Bridge after many years of hard work. Gary was a lifelong member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed all types of hunting and fishing with a special love for deer hunting. Gary loved spending time with his family and friends. He had a gentle spirit with a natural ability to bring laughter to any situation. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Elma Voncile Moss Byrd; and grandmother, Teollie Moss Byrd. Those left to cherish his memory include his father, Douglas (Billie) Byrd; sister, Bettelynne (Kenneth) Bedgood; brother, Daniel (Melissa) Byrd; niece, Jo Mae (Chris) White; great nephew and niece, JD and Ellie Jane; girlfriend, Becky Chestang; and many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 10am until 11am funeral service Saturday, January 18, 2020, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Rev. Barbara Brewi and Rev. Dunford Cole officiating.
