George Emory Rowell, 89, of Citronelle, Alabama passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at William F. Green State Veterans Home in Bay Minette, Alabama. Affectionately known as "Trusty", George lived a life defined by service, dedication, serving others, and love for family and country. He was a proud Veteran serving in the United States Navy as a Seabee. During his time in service, he was stationed in numerous locations and served during the Vietnam War. George received numerous honors and commendations, reflecting his commitment and service.

After his time in the military, George built a life rooted in hard work as a professional painter, where he was known for integrity, kindness, perfectionism. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and found great joy in serving the Lord. He was an avid gardener, turkey and deer hunter, and an Alabama Crimson Tide fan "Roll Tide". He was honored in 2008 as Citronelle Citizen of the Year in recognition of his dedication to the community, giving back and showing up for others.

He is survived by his children, Jackie Lowe, Jamie Clanton (Doug), Jeff Smith (Sandra), Deborah Ladner, and Mark Rowell. He was a loving grandfather to his grandchildren, Gretchen Lang (Chris), Brandi Turner (Dwayne), Baylee Smith (Daryl), Tyler Clanton (Liana), Chasity Lowe, Chase Smith, Kenneth Bedgood, Shaun Bedgood (Kristen), Justin Ladner and Ashton Ladner; numerous great grandchildren; brother, Carl David Rowell (Beverly); many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

George was preceded in death by his former wife, Genevieve B. Rowell; son, Joe Smith; parents, Raymond and Ruth Rowell; siblings, Paul Gene Rowell, Bobby Rowell, Wesley Rowell, Joe Rowell, Cliff Rowell, Ruth Ella Miller, and Malcolm Rowell; and son-in-law, Dickie Lowe.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026 at New Home Baptist Church. The visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service with Bro. Dino Danzey, Bro. Jeff Bryan, and Bro. Tanner Rowell officiating. Burial will follow in New Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to New Home Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or that you honor his memory by doing something kind for someone as he so often did.

The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of G Wing at the William F. Green State Veterans Home and ACG Hospice for their love and exceptional care during his time there.

George will be remembered not only for his unwavering patriotism, integrity, and sense of humor but also for his generous heart, steady patience, and countless lives he impacted. He was always ready with a story, a helping hand or silly gesture but nothing brought him more happiness than the time spent with his family.

The pallbearers will be Tyler Clanton, Jarrett Turner, Chris Lang, Joey Rowell, Eddie Blankinchip, and Carl Rowell, Jr. The honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Rowell, William Paul Miller, Kavin Rowell, Jay Rowell, Dwayne Turner, Trenton Turner, and Dalton Hicks.
