Goldie Puckett Stone passed away on April 25, 2024. She was born in West Virginia and settled in Citronelle, Alabama, with her husband when they retired.
Goldie began her teaching career after earning her bachelor’s degree from West Virginia Institute of Technology in her mid 40’s and her Master’s degree from the University of Alabama while living in Tuscaloosa. She loved teaching, but what she loved most was being a wife, parent, grandparent, great grandparent, sister, and friend to all who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Stone; parents, Edgar Moore Puckett and Cora Martin Puckett; and six of her siblings.
Goldie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Richard Wright; granddaughters, Melissa Taliaferro and Stacey Ryder; six great grandsons and one great granddaughter; sister, Carol Davis; cousins, Ruth Martin, Georgia McCain and Andy Martin of Citronelle; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and many other relatives and friends.
While living in Citronelle, Goldie was helped and loved by her Citronelle family and neighbors, especially Frank and Ellen Lindsey.
She was an active member of the Cedar Creek Church of the Brethren, a quilter, and beloved sister to her seven siblings.
Goldie’s life will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, with viewing from 10:00 AM. to 11:00 AM at the Cedar Creek Church of the Brethren. Her service will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow immediately at the Cedar Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
