Hubert Ennis Evans

Hubert Ennis Evans, a beloved family man, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 16, 1939, Hubert lived a life rich in love, family, and passions that brought him joy and fulfillment.

Hubert was devoted to his family, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He is survived by his children, Greg Evans, Andal Johnson, Lacy Jelane Sheffield (Billy), Andy Evans (Sommerly), and Racheal Etheredge (Michael). His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Kandace Hadaway (Kendal), Kaitlyn Johnson, Hayley Johnson (Michael), Hannah Barnett (Daniel), Megan Jackson (Evan), Ryan Evans (Manda), Natalie Stokes (Jacob), Riley Evans (Gracie), Gabriella Evans, Gracie Etheredge, Molly Etheredge, and Blake Evans; and great-grandchildren Wyatt, Ollie, Daniel, Barrett, Eli, Connor, Lily, Jett, Brigg, Addie, Elijah, and Avery. Hubert also shared his life with his siblings, Patricia Webb (Shelly), Linda Baugh, and Ina Canterbury (John), as well as sisters-in-law Anna Evans and Sandra Evans. He held a special place in his heart for his loyal four-legged companion, Maggie, and many other relatives and friends who were touched by his kindness and spirit.

Hubert's interests painted a picture of a man who embraced the simple pleasures in life. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in both hunting and fishing, often recalling the serenity of moments spent in nature. His hands crafted treasures as an accomplished woodworker, and he took immense pride in building outdoor furniture for himself and others, leaving a lasting mark of his craftsmanship. Music was a significant part of his life, with a particular fondness for playing his harmonica and a deep appreciation for southern gospel music, which brought comfort and joy to his days.

Throughout his life, Hubert counted many accomplishments, but none surpassed his greatest pride—spending cherished moments with his family.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia Evans; his parents, George and Minnie Evans; brothers, Eugene Evans (Rose), Robert Evans, Otis Evans (Frances), and Danny Evans; brother-in-law, Vernon Baugh; and son-in-law, Allen Johnson.

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service at Liberty Baptist Church with Bro. Billy Ray Robinson and Bro. Gary Pickard officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.

Hubert Ennis Evans will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory lives on in the hearts of his family and friends as they celebrate a life well-lived.
