Jack Heathcock, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully at his home on March 18, 2026. Born on February 19, 1951, Jack lived a life marked by a strong faith, a generous spirit, and an infectious sense of humor that touched all who knew him.
Throughout his life, Jack was known as a true jokester, someone who delighted in bringing laughter and joy to those around him. His quick wit and lighthearted nature made him a treasured companion and friend. But beyond his humor, Jack’s enduring faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him through every challenge and blessing.
Jack was deeply involved in his church community, serving as a valued member of the worship team at Living Word Church. There, he shared his love of music through playing the guitar and singing, enriching the spiritual lives of all who gathered to worship. His talents extended beyond music; he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, finding peace and fulfillment in nature's embrace. Jack’s skilled hands were never idle, as he devoted countless hours to woodworking—creating swings, birdhouses, picnic tables, and many other projects with his craftsmanship and care. When he sought rest, he found comfort in relaxing and watching television, savoring moments of tranquility.
Jack’s proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly his family, a testament to the love and dedication he poured into his life. He shared 52 years of marriage with his beloved wife and best friend, Nancy Heathcock, whose steadfast companionship was the foundation of his happiness. Together with Nancy, Jack raised a loving family; he was a devoted father to his children, Shannon Thornton (Greg), Brannon Ellison (Jessie), Cory Heathcock (Cameron), Blayne Heathcock (Catheryn), Kamrin Hall, Ashley Hall (Dean), and William Shawn Heathcock (Wanda). He was also a cherished grandfather to twenty-two grandchildren and a great-grandfather to seventeen great-grandchildren, each of whom carried forward his legacy of warmth and kindness.
Jack is survived by his siblings John Kenny Heathcock, Tina Lynn, Linda Wiggins, and Darlene Gohagin, as well as his special friend Marcus Hobbs. He was surrounded in life and remembered fondly by a multitude of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends who admired his generosity and spirit.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Ashley Hall, son William Shawn Heathcock, grandson Callum Luke Heathcock, his parents Johnny Heathcock and Marie Dunn, and his sister Diane Heathcock.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 1:30 PM until his Celebration of Life at 2:30 PM at Living Word Church with Bro. Marc Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow in Grace Williams Cemetery.
Jack Heathcock’s life was a testament to love, faith, and laughter. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him. He leaves behind a legacy of joy, devotion, and craftsmanship that will continue to inspire all who follow. May he rest in peace.
