James Wilbert "Peanut" Byrd

James Wilbert “Peanut” Byrd, a native and resident of Mount Vernon, Alabama passed away Friday, March 8, 2019 at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. He was 62 years old. He was a Jehovah’s Witness and was a member of the Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witness in Mobile. He never met a stranger and loved spending time with his family. Peanut was a loving son, brother and uncle. He was an avid Alabama football fan and always had a rivalry going with his brother, Myles, who is an avid Auburn fan. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him. Peanut was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer and Lila Byrd; aunts, Minerva Denham, Gertrude Byrd and Quincy Acree; uncles, Homer Byrd and Dave Taylor; grandparents, Joe and Mary Byrd. Those left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Doris Meadows (James), Rose Byrd (Clarence), Valentine Stanley (Joe); brothers, Marshall Myles Byrd, Clyde Byrd (Glenda), and Forest Acree (Shae); aunts, Roxie Brewer, Bonnie Byrd, Kim Blankinchip, Obra Milbourn; uncle, Collie Byrd; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 1pm until the 2pm funeral service Monday, March 11, 2019 at Freeman Funeral Home with Elder Don Peevy officiating. Burial will follow in Byrd Cemetery.
