Jean Connell

Jean Connell, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully at her home on March 28, 2026. Born on October 16, 1937, Jean lived a life marked by devotion to her family and the simple joys that brought warmth and comfort to all who knew her.

Jean’s pride and greatest accomplishment was her family. She was the heart of her household, known for her remarkable cooking, always preparing three meals a day with love and care. Her children and grandchildren especially treasured her macaroni and cheese, a favorite that brought everyone together around the table. Beyond her culinary talents, Jean took immense pride in maintaining her home, cultivating her garden, and enjoying the company of others. She cherished moments of sitting and laughing with friends and family, reflecting her warm and inviting spirit. Her love for shopping and engaging with others showed her vibrant connection to life and community.

She is survived by her children, Vicky Williams (David), Wanda Taylor Byrd, and Michael Connell (Janise); her grandchildren, Tiffany Hampton (Chad), Kari Williams, Brian Taylor, Matthew Connell (April), Christopher Connell (Stephanie), Brittany Cochran (Jack), and Emily Connell; and a loving circle of seventeen great-grandchildren who carry forward her legacy of love and family pride. Jean is also survived by her sister, Gloria Cunningham; a multitude of nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends who will forever hold her memory dear.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Larry D. Connell; her parents, Will and Estelle Mason; and her brothers, Roy Mason, James Mason, William Mason, Clinton Mason, and Wayne Mason. Their memories live on in her heart and in the stories shared by those she touched.

The family will honor Jean’s life with a visitation on Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Hickman and Bro. Donnie Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Community Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate the rich and loving life Jean led.

Jean Connell’s legacy is one of enduring love, hospitality, and dedication to her family and home. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit and the memories of her kindness, joy, and delicious meals will continue to inspire those who knew her.
