Joe Ray Newton, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on September 21, 2025, at the age of 49. Born on March 27, 1976, Joe lived a life rich with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
He was a person brimming with an outgoing spirit, complemented by his infectious sense of humor and friendliness. Joe had a unique ability to draw people in with his warmth and charm, making everyone feel welcome and valued. His joy for life was evident in his passions, particularly in dancing and spending quality time with his friends and family.
Joe's family was his pride and joy. He is survived by his devoted wife of 20 years, Darlene Schaffer, and his beloved children, Meagan Reed and Brooke Rivers. Additionally, he embraced his role as a stepfather to Julia Schaffer and Jasmine Johnson, and a grandfather to his adored grandchildren: Miley, Isaiah, Dawson, Micah, Samuel, Annisyn, Karis, Karson, and Lil Shane. His legacy of love will undoubtedly continue through them.
Beyond his immediate family, Joe is survived by his father, Joe Newton, as well as special relatives Aunt Ida, Henry, and Mary Leigh, along with many other relatives and friends who were touched by his generosity and joyful spirit.
Joe joins in eternal rest his mother, Linda Faye Newton, and his niece, Denise Back, both of whom he cherished deeply.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on September 24, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service at Freeman Funeral Home with Bro. Dwight officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Creek Brethren Cemetery.
The world has lost a truly remarkable person whose laughter and light will be profoundly missed.
