John L Byrd

John L. Byrd, a resident of Mount Vernon, Alabama, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2019. He was 68 years old. John was born August 31, 1951. He loved to tell jokes and spend time with his family. He enjoyed being around his children and having a good time. John was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. John was preceded in death by his father, Villard Byrd; sister, Jettie Weaver; and brother, Hillard Byrd. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 32 years, Priscilla Byrd; mother, Ida Virginia Byrd; children, Villard, Jr. “Willie” (Hailee), Sheena Elaine Davis, Kevelyn Dianne Comans “LuLu”, and Hillary Jetta Weaver; two grandchildren, Johnathan “Dude” and Gwynna “PanPan”; siblings, Ola Bell Weaver, Ida Ramona Byrd (Leo), and Glenda Sue Byrd (Clyde Joe); special nephew, Villard Weaver (Tracy); special nieces, Christina Davis (Eric) and Kameron Douglas (Richard); and other relatives and friends. A wake will be held for John from 6pm until 9pm Sunday, October 20, 2019, at Freeman Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held 11am Monday, October 21, 2019, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Rev. Barbara Brewi and Rev. George Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at Byrd Cemetery.
