John Michael Wilson, born on June 6, 1951, passed away peacefully at his home on July 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A proud veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps, John’s life was marked by a profound dedication to both his country and his family.
Professionally, John was a certified ASE mechanic, known for his exceptional skills and expertise. He was affectionately referred to as a mechanical wizard, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike. His career was characterized not just by his technical prowess, but also by his easy-going demeanor that endeared him to all who knew him.
John possessed a gentle soul, embodying the warmth of a country boy at heart. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people, never meeting a stranger and always ready with a kind word or a helping hand. His love for his family knew no bounds, and he took immense pride in being an amazing grandfather to his grandchildren. John cherished every moment spent with them, finding joy in their laughter and achievements.
In addition to his work and family life, John enjoyed a variety of hobbies. He had a passion for playing the guitar and listening to country music. His evenings often found him watching NASCAR and westerns or indulging in his favorite pastime, fishing—activities that brought him happiness and relaxation.
John is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Emma Jean Wilson; his children, Chris Morton (Jenni), Bobbi Smith (Tommy), and Earnest Morton (Ashleigh); and a legacy of love reflected in his four grandsons, three granddaughters, and eight great grandsons. He also leaves behind his sisters, Helen Spurlin, Gayle Newman, and Deborah Tanner (Sam), a special lifetime friend, Kenny Maddox, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends who will remember him fondly.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Harvey Wilson; his mother, Vera Wilson; his brother, Bobby Wilson; and his son, Johnny Paul Wilson.
Funeral services to celebrate John's life will be held at Freeman Funeral Home. A visitation is scheduled for July 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service with Bro. Eddie Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.
John Michael Wilson will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. His legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to family will continue to resonate for generations to come.
