Johnnie Renee Holland, known affectionately as "Sam," passed away peacefully at her home on September 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 13, 1967, Sam graced the world with her vibrant personality and outgoing spirit, making a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was a dedicated manager at Waffle House for 28 years, where her commitment to excellence and her cheerful demeanor created a welcoming atmosphere for both her staff and customers.
Sam's interests spanned a wide array of activities, reflecting her multifaceted personality. She was an avid supporter of Alabama and Satsuma High School football, showcasing her passion for her local community. Her pastime pursuits included yard sales and estate sales, where she delighted in hunting for antiques that would add character to her home. Sam also possessed a green thumb; she loved working in her yard and caring for her farm animals. Known as a resourceful problem solver, she often turned to YouTube to learn how to fix or improve things around her home.
Sam is remembered as a loving person with a servant’s heart who cherished spending time with her family, which was her greatest accomplishment. Surviving her are her fiancé, Bobbie Carpenter; her son, Jon Parker Carpenter; her siblings, Judy Cunningham (Donnie), Danny Holland (Willie), Darryl Holland (Laura), Patricia Bernard (Bryan), Carol Snurkowski (Michael), and Mary Rathle; her brother-in-law, Robert Loper; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Fred Richarson and Shellanna Knapp; and numerous other relatives and friends whose lives she touched.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Mary Jane Holland; her sister, Charlene Loper; her brother-in-law, Jean Rathle; and her nephew, Dennis Loper.
Wake will be held on September 10, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Freeman Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow on September 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Shiloh Baptist Church with Bro. Donnie Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in Pond Creek Cemetery.
Johnnie Renee Holland will be remembered for her laughter, her kindness, and the warmth she brought to those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and support that will be cherished for generations to come.
