Joseph Bruner, Jr., affectionately known as "Mackie," passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026. Born on February 17, 1952, in Laurel, Mississippi, Joseph lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and a deep love for those around him.

As an accomplished Electrical Engineer, Joseph excelled professionally, managing a crew of fifteen with skill and leadership. His commitment to his work was evident not only in his technical expertise but also in the respect and admiration he garnered from colleagues and friends alike.

Beyond his career, Joseph was a man of warmth and generosity. He was loving and kind, traits that defined his relationships throughout his life. He cherished travel adventures shared with his beloved wife, Kay Bruner, who preceded him in death. Together, they created many joyful memories that fueled his passion for exploration. Joseph also found great delight in playing board games, often spending cherished moments with close friends, particularly Tim and Jana Smith.

Joseph’s heart shone brightest through his affection for children, an aspect of his life of which he was profoundly proud. His family was a central source of joy and strength. He is survived by his step mom, Natalie Bruner; sisters Cassandra Byrd (Joey), Rae Davidson (Brandon), and Lahoma Davis (Richard); his niece Brittany Goff (Guy), who he loved like a daughter; his great-nephew Caleb Davis; great-nieces Everlee "Midget" Davis and Arianna "NG" Davis; grandson Daxton "Squirt" Walker; niece Sherry Reed; and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who held him dear.

Joseph was preceded in death by his wife Kay; his parents, Joseph Bruner, Sr. and Carolyn Guy; sisters Margaret Hamilton and Rebecca Chestang; and brother Chuck Bruner.

Joseph Bruner, Jr.’s legacy is one of unwavering love, professional dedication, and heartfelt kindness. His memory will continue to inspire and sustain those who were privileged to know him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
