Joseph Ray Reed, Sr., affectionately known as "Jelly", passed away on August 30, 2026, at the age of 49. Born on May 7, 1977, he will be remembered with love for the joy, pride, and warmth he brought to those around him.
Joseph was a man who deeply valued the people in his life and found great happiness in spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and racing, and he was known as an avid Auburn fan. He also loved to sing in church, and his faith and love of worship were part of the life he shared with others. Those who knew him will remember his playful spirit and the way he loved to tease and play, bringing laughter and lighthearted moments to the lives of many.
He took special pride in his children and grandchildren, who were among his greatest accomplishments and deepest joys. Joseph was also proud of being MOWA Choctaw. He loved his heritage and traditional Indian dancing, carrying that pride with him as an important part of who he was.
Those left to chersih his memory include his wife, Casey "Boo" Reed; children, Adrienne "Poot" Reed (Cody), Joseph "Bubba" Reed, Jr. (Veronica), Cassidy "Boot Boot" Reed, Justin "Jut" Reed, and Prestyn "Lil Man" Huckabee; grandchildren, Paisley, Greyson, and Jasmine; mother, Verina Reed; siblings, Glen "Good" Reed (Terri) and Sandie Whiting (Curtis), Branon Reed (Breonna), and Glen Reed, Jr.; nieces and nephews, Josh, Zachary, Curtis Jr., and Lil' Rina; uncles, Don Snow, Billy Reed, and Wilbert Reed; a multitude of cousins, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by father, Sandy Ray Reed; and grandparents.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Reed's Chapel Baptist Church with Bro. Chad Orso, Bro. Jerry Waite, and Bro. Sammy Rivers officiating. Burial will follow in Reed's Chapel Cemetery.
Family and friends will remember Joseph as a man who loved fully, laughed easily, and cherished the connections that made life meaningful. His memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
