Josephine Johnston

February 6, 1937 — June 24, 2025

Mt. Vernon, Alabama

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Josephine Johnston, who departed this life on June 24, 2025, at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Josephine was born on February 6, 1937, and throughout her life, she embodied warmth and kindness, leaving a remarkable impact on all who had the fortune to know her.

Josephine had the sweetest heart and loved everybody she came in contact with, always wearing a smile that could light up a room. Her unwavering faith was a guiding principle in her life, and she cherished the moments of fellowship amongst her community. She also enjoyed going out to eat and spending time with her family and friends.

Her legacy lives on through her beloved children, Donald Harvey (Kathryn), Janet Young (Ken), Roxanne Weaver, and Drayton Cole Weaver. Josephine took immense pride in her grandchildren, who include Misty Vice (Tyrell), Kevelyn Rivers (Brian), Kristy Guidetta (Lynn), Rabon Harvey, Jr. (Ginger), Stacey Snider (James), Cody Young (Rebecca), Mark Harvey (Mulan), Shannon Reed (Vick), Kristy McDonald (Brett), Brandon Harvey, Brandy Reed, Tony Weaver, Ella Byrd (Anthony), and Dezaree Higgins. She was also blessed with fifty-one great grandchildren and fourteen great great grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.

Josephine is also survived by her bonus daughter, Cassie Davis (Bill); her cherished sisters, Annette Lewis, Dorothy Davis (Kyle), and Deloris Morfin; companion, Hershey; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charlie Harvey, Darrell Simpson, and Prince Johnston; her beloved sons, Kent Harvey and Andy Harvey; her parents, Bufkins and Margaret Weaver; and her brothers, James Weaver, Alfred Weaver, and Danny Weaver. Despite these losses, her spirit remained resilient, and her love for family never wavered.
