Judy Ann Cantey

Judy Ann “JuJu” Cantey, born March 10, 1948, departed this life and went to the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 24, 2021. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, and will always be remembered for her contagious smile, her huge heart for both kids and animals, her infectious laugh, and her generous spirit.

JuJu was a retiree from Mobile County Public School System and a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church. In her spare time, JuJu enjoyed shopping for antiques. Through her church service, JuJu supported several organizations, including one closest to her heart, Samaritan’s Purse. She also became a member of JLM where she enjoyed her committee placement, “Camp Smile.” Among many other contributions to the community, JuJu taught Sunday School for many years, even teaching several generations of families. She loved sharing God’s word with them. Her devotion to her church led to a strong bond of Christian friendships with fellow church ladies and she was very proud of those friendships.

JuJu was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Bro. Rod Cantey; her parents, John and Eloyce Green; and her birth mother, Ruth Presley.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, John Russell Cantey (Zondra); granddaughter, Brelee Grow (Tanner); two sisters, Barbara Green Foster (Oliver) and Shirley Stokes; beloved dogs, Polly, Ingram, and Tipper; a host of other loving family, friends, and loyal church family.

A wake will be held for JuJu from 5pm until 9pm Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Bethel Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at 10am Friday, July 30, 2021, at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev.
