Judy Ann Orso was born on March 27th, 1950, to Clarence and Maggie Jane Orso. She was the first of nine children. Judy attended Reed Chapel School, Eunice Christian Academy in Louisiana, Bacone College in Oklahoma, and Wayland College in Texas. In February of 1972 she married Wade Johnson, who was a member of the United States Air Force stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. They moved to Portland, Oregon in September of 1972. From 1972 to 1996 Judy worked for U.S. West and ATT Phone Company as a Business Representative. Judy was a proud CWA Union Member and served as the Vice President of the Operators. She gave birth to the joy of her life Alexander Johnson in February of 1978. In 1996 Judy retired from ATT Phone Company and moved back to McIntosh, Alabama. She was a proud member of the MOWA Choctaw Tribe. She worked for the MOWA Choctaw Tribe as an accountant for a couple of years. Judy became a Coastie Mom in 1999, when her son Alex joined the United States Coast Guard. In 2008 she became a grandma with the birth of Taylor, and in 2016 she was blessed with a second granddaughter Emmalynne. Judy loved all her siblings Clara (Johnny) Johnston, Don Orso, Kathy (Perry) Wilkerson, Delphine (Ron) Dorman, Patsy (Elvin) Reed, Ricky (Debbie) Orso, Janet (Mike) Eddings, and Sue (Kenny) Barnes. Flowers and trips to Peoria, Illinois for Christmas and birthdays with Alex, Amanda, Zachary, Taylor, and Emmalynne always made Judy happy until her death November 14th, 2025.
A wake will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Freeman Funeral Home. A visitation will take place the following day on Friday, November 21, 2025 from 1:00 PM until the 2:00 PM funeral service at Reed Chapel Baptist Church with Bro. Chad Orso officiating. Burial will follow in Reed's Chapel Cemetery.
