Lemual Wayne Rivers

October 12, 1978 — July 19, 2025

Citronelle, Alabama

Lemual Wayne Rivers, born on October 12, 1978, has left us too soon, passing away on July 19, 2025, at UAB Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was a cherished member of his community and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Lemual was a devoted father to his children, Camden Trey Rivers, Emily Grace Rivers, and Carsen Lem Rivers, who were undoubtedly his proudest accomplishments. He shared a deep bond with his mother, Lazonia Bernice Rivers, and his sister, Tara Weaver, who, together with her husband Mark, supported him throughout his life. He was also a loving uncle to his niece, Birtlee Reed (Tyler), nephew, Melton Clark; and a dedicated great-uncle to Jordan Jr., Tyler Jr., Bryson and Tynslee. Lemual's family extended to his grandmother, Hattie V. Sullivan, and a network of aunts and uncles, including Carol Byrd (Billy), Van Rivers, Barbara Sullivan (George), Juanita Sullivan (Hank), Willard Lipcomb, and Scarlett Orso.

Lemual was predeceased by his father, Sterling Rivers, along with his grandparents, Lemual and Lula Rivers, and William Lipscomb. He also mourned the loss of several aunts and uncles: Lee Rivers, Mary Rivers, Mabel Weaver, Sherry Snow, Bobby Lipscomb, Theresa Weaver, Maylon Weaver, and George Lipscomb.

In his personal life, Lemual was known for his warm spirit and love for adventure. He enjoyed watching television, shopping for truck parts, and was an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Atlanta Falcons. Lemual cherished spending his time hanging out and having a good time with his friends; his spirit for camaraderie was evident in the close friendships he formed with Joseph Best, Philip Lofton, Sine Orso, Billy Joe Reed and Roger Jordan, among many others.

A visitation will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by The Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 AM with Father Victor Ingalls officiating. Burial will follow in Byrd Cemetery.

Lemual Wayne Rivers will be remembered not only for his vibrant personality but also for the love he shared with his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of joy, laughter, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
