Lucy Weaver Rodriguez Cooper, a beloved member of her community, passed away on February 12 ,2024. She was known for her outgoing nature, generosity, intelligence, great sense of humor, and trustworthiness. Lucy was born on November 29, 1944.

Lucy had a passion for her church and cherished her church family deeply. She found solace and joy in their love and support throughout her life.

One of Lucy's favorite pastimes was reading. She would often immerse herself in books to explore new worlds and gain knowledge. Dancing was another one of her passions as she found happiness in moving to the rhythm of music. Cooking was also a creative outlet for Lucy, where she would experiment with flavors and delight her loved ones with delicious meals. However, one of her greatest obsessions was anything related to Elvis Presley. She would collect memorabilia and never tire of listening to his music.

Lucy had an immense love for her family, cherishing every moment spent with them. Her children, Darrell Rodriguez, Sherrie Rodriguez McMullen, and Tammy Rodriguez Nye (Charlie), were the center of her world. She lived for them and took pride in their accomplishments. As a loving grandmother, she adored her grandchildren: Jessica, Hali, Tony, Heather, Hanna, Niki, Kyle, and Gage. Their smiles brought immense joy to her heart. With 19 great-grandchildren who will carry on her legacy, Lucy's impact reached the future generations of her family. Her lineage will continue to be blessed by the values she instilled in them. In addition to her immediate family members who mourn her loss, Lucy is survived by her sisters, Jane and Margaret; brothers, Leslie "Sonny," Carl, and Hank; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents Leroy and Della Weaver; siblings, John Henry, Mark Weaver, James Weaver, Dave Weaver, and Roy Weaver; children's father, Tony Rodriguez; and husband, Daniel "Sonny" Cooper.

The family will receive friends Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service at Freeman Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Byrd Cemetery. 

Lucy Weaver Rodriguez Cooper was a compassionate soul who never met a stranger. She will forever be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her dedication to her church, and the joy she brought to all those around her. Her legacy lives on through the memories she created and the love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
