Mart Rivers, affectionally known as "Tuck", born April 29, 1950, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 17, 2026. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and cherished for the many roles he embraced throughout his life.
Tuck was an exceptional welder, a craft in which he took great pride and skill. Beyond his professional life, he enjoyed logging and was an avid sports fan, especially devoted to baseball and the Atlanta Braves. His vibrant spirit extended into his family life, where he was very active in teaching and guiding the children of his family. Among his unique hobbies were junking, ironing, and collecting scrap copper, passions that reflect a man with a distinctive character and a love for the simple, hands-on pleasures of life.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Cole Rivers; children, Clayton Reed and Madison Weaver; siblings, Nettie Lee Taylor, Marvin Rivers, Jr., and Evie Rivers; sister-in-law, Carolyn Rivers, as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will remember him fondly and carry on his legacy. Tuck was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Abbie Rivers, whose memory he honored; and his siblings Alice Weaver, Mildred Johnston, Barbara Jean Byrd, Larry Dean Rivers, Charles Rivers, Wayne Rivers, Lamar Rivers, and Lavert Rivers.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 1:00 PM until the 2:00 PM funeral service at Reed's Chapel Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Waite. Burial will follow in Reed's Chapel Cemetery.
Tucks life was marked by his dedication to family, his mastery of his craft, and his wholehearted embrace of the joys and challenges life presented. Through the love of those he leaves behind and the stories that will be told, his spirit will endure.
