Mary Lucy Prine

January 17, 1941 — April 6, 2020

Mary Lucy Vann Prine was born in Vine Hill, Alabama in January 17, 1941. She resides in Citronelle, Alabama most of her life until moving to Somerby of Mobile in 2015, where she lives until her death on April 6, 2020.

Lucy graduated from Citronelle High School and attended the University of Southern Mississippi. In 1961, she met Dr. John Prine when he began his Family Medical Practice in Citronelle. They were married in 1962. Lucy, along with her husband, tirelessly contributed to the welfare of their community. They spent a lifetime devoting themselves to numerous church, civic, charitable and professional organizations. Lucy was active in the Mobile County Medical Association Auxiliary, the Mobile and Washington County Junior Miss Scholarship Program, the Band Parents Association and she volunteered countless hours of service for many years at Camp Rap-A-Hope. Lucy was wholly devoted to her family; her son John David and her 11 siblings brought her great joy. In addition, Lucy was beloved by her many nieces and nephews; their lives are forever enriched by the priceless memories she helped create over many precious summers in Citronelle.

Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John Howard Prine; her parents, Johnnie Mose Vann and Hettie Lucy Bagby Vann; and her brothers, Frank M. Vann, Charles D. Vann and John R. Vann.

She is survived by her son, John David (Jodi) Prine of Panama City Beach, FL; brothers, James F. (Janie) Vann, O.D. (Beverly) Vann, Mobile, AL, and Fred E. (Deborah) Vann, Hamilton, VA; and sisters, Virginia V. Landrum, Peachtree City, GA, Vivian Jo V. Chateau, Point Clear, AL, Elizabeth V. (Gabe) Green, Brandon, MS, Rebecca Sue V. (Tom) Ludwig, Summerfield, FL, and Dorothy V. (John) Kerr, Citronelle, AL.

There will be a family graveside service with interment at Pine Crest Cemetery in Citronelle, AL, with a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at a time to be announced. Memorials May be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or a charity of choice.
