Melton Dewayne Byrd, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on December 26, 2023. He was born on May 4, 1996, to Melton and Deidra Byrd. Melton will always be remembered for his kind heart, fun-loving nature, and infectious sense of humor. He was a talented and versatile individual who excelled at anything he set his mind to.

Throughout his life, Melton had a passion for several hobbies and interests. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was hunting or fishing. He also found joy in playing video games and watching football. However, what truly made him happy was the company of his family and friends. Melton cherished these moments and created countless beautiful memories while laughing and joking with his loved ones.

Melton's warm personality and likeable aura drew people towards him. His genuine care for others was evident in the relationships he built over the years. He leaves behind a vast network of family members and friends who were touched by his presence.

He is survived by his parents, Melton and Deidra Byrd, who raised him with love and devotion. Additionally, he found unwavering support from second parents, Sevron and Susan Byrd, throughout his life's journey.

Melton will be deeply missed by his siblings, Nancy Bohannon (Brad), Carlton Byrd (Susan), Mitch Weaver (Ashley), Somer Byrd (Dale), and Mary Byrd. Their bond as a family was unbreakable, filled with love and laughter.

His nieces and nephews, Katrina, Keleigh, Jocelyn, CJ, Xander, and Sawyer held a special place in Melton's heart. He cherished every moment spent with them and brought endless joy into their lives.

In addition to his immediate family members, Melton leaves behind his best friends, John Byrd, Alex Huggins, Tae May, Sebron Byrd, and Darrell Sullivan; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; other relatives and many friends.

Melton was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leamon and Octavia Byrd, and Frances and Annette Weaver; nephew, Mitch Weaver, Jr.; and aunts, Sarah Chestang and Sandra Weaver.

A wake will be held on December 28, 2023, at Freeman Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM with the Rosary at 5:45 PM. On December 29, 2023, Mass of the Ressurection will take place at Saint Theresa Catholic Church with Father John Coghlan officiating. The service will begin at 11:00 AM to celebrate Melton's life and the impact he had on those around him. Burial will follow at Byrd Cemetery.

Melton Dewayne Byrd leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. His kind-hearted nature brought joy to everyone he encountered. Although his presence will be deeply missed, the memory of Melton's vibrant spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him.

In this time of mourning and reflection, let us remember the joy he brought into our lives and be grateful for having known such extraordinary individual.
