Michael Thomas Martin, affectionately known as Mike and Pop Pop, passed away on December 2, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on March 24, 1954, he dedicated much of his life to his career as a Case Manager at the Mission of Hope, a role that brought him immense fulfillment and joy.
Mike was characterized by his outspoken nature and quick wit, paired with a caring and loving attitude that endeared him to those around him. His love for life was apparent in his many hobbies and interests. Mike was an avid fan of Auburn football and took great pleasure in cooking and grilling for his family. He cherished the time spent with his grandsons, engaging in adventures and creating lasting memories that brought smiles to their faces.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Donna Martin; his supportive daughter, Erin Byrd, and her husband Joe; and his son, Robert Martin. Mike was a proud grandfather to his grandchildren, Kayden, Rayce, Ryver, and Reign. Additionally, he is remembered by his beloved sister, Allison Hester, and her husband Steven, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many relatives and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, Bobby and Jeanette Martin; his brother, Terry Martin; his nephew, Landon Hester; and his mother and father-in-law, Mary Alice and Earl Driskell.
A visitation will be held on December 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the11:00 AM Funeral Service at Lockler Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Grant McLain and Rev. Roger Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Community Cemetery.
Mike Martin leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering commitment to his family and friends, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
