Michael Lee Rowell

Michael Lee Rowell, known to many as Mike, passed away on September 30, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on August 5, 1945, Mike will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and family man whose life was marked by steady love for those closest to him and by the simple pleasures he cherished most.

Mike served in the Alabama National Guard, and throughout his life he enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. These were not just pastimes to him, but meaningful parts of the life he built and the memories he shared with those he loved. Whether outdoors or gathered with family, he found joy in the people and places that mattered most.

Above all, Mike’s life was rooted in family. He is survived by his wife, Donna Rowell, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. He also leaves behind his son, Todd Rowell (Angela); his daughter, Denise Byrd (Rusty). He is further survived by his grandchildren, Matthew Byrd (Whitney), Michael Byrd (Meghan), Haley O'Connor (Dillon), Maddie Beasley, Dayton Williams (Brittni), and Kenley Cooper; and his brother, Carvel Rowell, Jr. The love of his family was a lasting part of his life, and his presence will continue to be felt in the generations who carry his memory forward.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carvel and Eunetta Rowell.

A wake will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Freeman Funeral Home.

Mike will be remembered with love, gratitude, and deep affection by all who knew him. His family will hold close the many memories they shared with him and the example of a life centered on faithfulness, hard work, and time spent with the people he loved most.
