Murtis Washington passed away on June 22, 2025, after a life filled with joy and laughter. He was born October 10,1944 to the union of Margery E. Washington and Rudolph Robinson in Citronelle, Alabama. He was a fun-loving person with an infectious personality. The roar of his motorcycle engine was music to his ears. Riding brought him relaxation and peace. Murtis was preceded in death by his parents, Margery Washington and Rudolph Robinson, brother, Kenny Lester Washington and sister, Jamie Robinson. He leaves to cherish a lifetime of wonderful memories his beloved partner of 35 years, Ellen Frye, of Citronelle, Alabama; loving children Hope Andry of Mt. Vernon, AL, Murtis Jr., and Romona Washington of Flint, MI. Bonus children Rona, Tyrone and Brandy Green of Flint, MI; along with many grandchildren and great grands whom he loved dearly. Devoted siblings Marion Peters of Fairburn, GA, Dianne Robinson, Lawrence (Lyndora) Washington of Mobile, AL, James (Chronda), Carlus (Yukalandis), Harvard, Minnie, Linda Robinson, all reside in Mobile, AL; a host of dedicated nieces, nephews, cousins (two devoted, Marion and John Mumford) close friends and acquaintance who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
A wake will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Freeman Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place the following day on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. Burial will follow in Mt. Nebo Cemetery.
